A vibrant co-curricular programme offers pupils additional opportunities to hone their skills in areas that they enjoy.

Literature

Our Literature Group draws lovers of reading. We enter two teams into the annual International Kids’ lit Quiz.

Chess

Chess Club is on offer to those girls who enjoy strategic thinking.

Choir

The vibrant Upper Junior and St Margaret’s Choirs draw girls who enjoy group singing.

Public Speaking

All girls are given opportunities to enhance their public speaking skills in the termly inter-school Chatterbox meetings. We also enter two Grade 7 teams in the English Public Speaking Guild Competition.

Mini Council

The election process to select two pupils to represent Roedean on the Johannesburg Mini Council is robust and challenging.

Activity Hour

Girls freely select activities of their choice in which to participate in the weekly Activity Hour.

Adventure Camps

The annual adventure camps offer exciting challenges in an outdoor environment.

Outings

Various outings that complement the curriculum are arranged throughout the year.

Social Responsibility

Upper Junior girls participate in a number of social responsibility activities aligned to local schools and organisations.

Round Square

Our Grade 7 Leadership Programme is aligned with the ideals of Round Square.

Performing Arts

Every year, each girl is offered the experience of participating in a performance in front of an audience.

Since 2009, Thinking Skill have been an integral part of the curriculum, preparing pupils for the challenges of higher education and life itself. We strive to prepare our girls to lead ‘life of significance’ in a world of exponential change. Roedean is the only school in SA to be accredited as a Thinking School from Grades 0-12.
