Roedean Carnival 2018

FAMILY FUN DAY – Soapbox Racing and Carnival

Sat 7th April 2018 from 08h00

The Roedean PTA would like to invite you and your family to our Roedean Carnival on the 7th April 2018 on the Grass Fields at the Junior School.  Our main objective for the day is to have loads of fun with our children, get families together and enjoy a day filled with exciting activities, tasty food, and drinks.

The day will be split into 2 parts:- The Soapbox Racing and the Carnival.

Tickets for a whole day of fun will be available from Thursday 22nd March 2018, in the Junior School courtyard, and the entrance to St Margarets. Tickets cost R200 per person, (credit card, snapscan or cash) OR use ONLINE TICKETS – click here

The ticket includes your fast track entrance, unlimited rides for the day, access to all the games, the chill lounge, live entertainment by the band ‘Out of the Blue’ and a R100’s worth of vouchers to spend anywhere, from food to drinks to toys and games. Each ticket bought will be entered into the draw for a weekend away for two.

This event is our main fundraiser for the year, and ensures that our entire Roedean community can take part! The day kicks off at 08h00 with a parade by each class in the Junior School, included with this parade will be our mascots, props and other Carnival entertainment. The Soapbox (Kaskar) racing will start immediately after this.  This event will run until about 10h30 until every child has been given the opportunity to drive and push the carts. There will be prizes galore for the best-dressed class, the class who collected the most Soapbox forms, the best spirit award and many random prizes for children, during the morning of racing.

Each child will be receiving a “Buy my Car” sponsor form, attached to this letter from their class teacher.  Each car is worth R250 and is made up of 50 blocks each worth R5.  Please help your daughter to sell as many blocks or cars as she can.  All money raised this year will be spent on bathroom upgrades in the Upper Junior School, as well as protective equipment for the sound system in Founders Hall. 25% of the profits will be allocated to Community partner projects –  The Link, Noah, Siyakhana Food Garden, Christ Church and Jabulani Home in Hillbrow.

With each R250 form returned your daughter will receive the following:

  1. A toy
  2. A Carnival Voucher
  3. A chance to win one of our many cuddly “animal” toys.

The PARENT – TEACHER race is scheduled for the last race of the morning.

Parents are welcome to fill in their own Soapbox Car Form and bring a team of friends to race.  The entrance fee will be R500 per team of 8 members. (Each race takes about 20 min so bring the energy drinks; you’re going to need them)

The Carnival starts at 10h30 after the Soapbox racing. Come and enjoy a day of fun with us!

Regards
