The library is refuge against cold winters, hot summers and… avoiding homework. It’s the perfect place to escape into the worlds of Susan Hill, James Green, Brandon Sanderson or Robert Galbraith (aka: JK Rowling – for those of you who weren’t aware). The reading lounge is a wonderful place to flop down and catch up on the latest news in The Star or the latest fashion in Elle magazine, and often, a few hours later, you wake up to find the magazine on the floor and the hour hand much further advanced than it was before! Our library monitors facilitate issues and returns, as well as participate in numerous activities throughout the year, from library draws, covering books for the Yeoville Community School’s new library, and collecting books for various organisations.

With the addition of OverDrive Digital Library catalogue, pupils are now able to borrow audio books and eBooks via the internet, even from home or during the holidays. Fun ways of tempting readers to take out books, from “Blind Dating” to emailed purchased lists. The Realm, houses all Reference and non-fiction books, there is always someone on hand to lend some advice or find a lost tome for research. As Jorge Luis Borges said: “I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library…” Well, at Roedean, we are in library heaven….
