On a cold winter’s day, the library is a great place in which to snuggle up to a heater, escape to the warmer world of a good book, or walk barefoot across the heated floor. It is not only a place in which to do homework or to read an exciting novel from beginning to end; after a long, tiring school day, the couches are the perfect places on which to catch up on the latest news in The Star or the latest fashion in Elle magazine, and often, a few hours later, you wake up to find the magazine on the floor and the hour hand much further advanced than it was before! As library monitors, we participated in numerous activites throughout the year, from library draws, covering books for the Yeoville Community School’s new library, and collecting books for various organisations.
The addition of the front desk and the bag rack has made our library even more efficient. Pupils are now able to borrow DVDs and magazines overnight or for the weekend. Mrs Brown is a wonderful leader of the Roedean Senior Library, and I know that, with her around, it will reach greater heights. Mrs Koseff works tirelessly in the Realm, and Mrs Sibisi gives valued support to both libraries. I had the best team of monitors with whom to work. They were committed and gave their all! I hope such dedication continues in the years to come.
The libraries have, on average, 200 borrowers per month, with between 300 – 750 items being issued per month. This figure includes books, audiobooks, and DVDs.
