BA Economics, MBA (UCLA)
■ Chief Executive – Allied Electronics (Altron)
■ Chairman of the Board
"When I was approached to take over the reins as Chairman of the Board of Roedean last year, I had no hesitation in accepting the post. It struck me at the time, that every now and again one discovers one of life's very rare treasures. It might be a special relationship, it might be a beautiful place or a unique career, and it might even be a school. What I have discovered here at Roedean are, in fact, many special treasures – fine friends; creative and innovative teaching and learning; sound values; valued traditions and, above all, a faith and determination that enables one to meet the many challenges of life itself."
"I am hoping to bring more than 20 years of business experience and executive expertise to the Board, as well as contributing from previous experience with independent schools gained at St Katherine's in Westcliff."

"It is a great privilege to serve in a teaching and learning environment as dynamic and effective as Roedean School (SA). In 2008, the school committed to a number of strategic initiatives which would continue to build Roedean's considerable reputation as a centre of academic excellence and, at the same time, enable us as a community to develop key partnerships with other communities to help build the skills of the future generations of our young leaders. Our areas of focus will be Mathematics and the Sciences, and teaching the skills of both critical and creative thinking from Grades 0 to 12. We are determined to create new horizons and exciting challenges for both girls and staff members which will equip them in the future to lead lives of significance."

"The hallmarks that distinguish Roedean are part of the tradition that I wish to see continuing. Throughout the school's history, remarkable women spent their formative years here. Within an ethos of academic excellence, each girl is recognised for her own abilities and encouraged to give of her best, within a nurturing environment. These are the characteristics that must be perpetuated."

"It is an honour to have been elected as the Chairman of the Roedean School Board. The school is steeped in wonderful traditions and framed by sound values that have governed the behaviour of teachers and students over many years. It offers a top class education to young ladies in a fast evolving and ever demanding world. I agree with the sentiment expressed by B.F Skinner who said, " Education is what survives when what has been learnt has been forgotten" Given my experience in the financial sector and prior involvement at both St Katherine's and The Ridge School I look forward to my term on the Board. May Roedean School continue to deliver a first class education to the future leaders of our country. "

Roedean is able to balance its incredible academic strength with both sport and cultural excellence. Nurturing and grooming young girls for a “life of significance” is an obligation that the School treasures and takes great care.
The Finance sub-committee is well placed to provide oversight over the Schools finance function. The committee recognizes its obligations to its various stakeholders and aims to maintain the sound financial position of the School.
