St Margaret’s Music
In St. Margaret’s, music means a fusion of instrumental playing, singing, note-reading and games. The note-reading programme of the Hungarian composer Kodály combined with the ensemble teaching of Orff, provides hours of music making.
In Grade One, the first songs consist only of two notes, and in Form One we conclude with ensemble works consisting out of 7-8 different parts. By the end of Saint Margaret’s music, each pupil has a basic understanding of note-reading, but most of all, excellent ensemble skills.
