Boarding House
Overview
The Mary Williams Boarding House successfully blends the original style of Sir Herbert Baker with modern, state-of the-art features.
This secure and comfortable House can accommodate 78 senior pupils from Lower V to Matric (Grades 8 to 12). They are housed in spacious single and double rooms, creating both an intimate and a people-friendly communal living environment.
The House also features two large, spacious, open-plan areas that serve as Common Rooms.
Living away from home can often be a daunting prospect for young students; however, we believe the Mary Williams House has been built and furnished in such a way that every student will feel cared for in a warm, comfortable, and happy environment. The resident matrons serve as surrogate mothers and provide a structured environment for those in their care, while never forgetting the need for the pupils to become responsible and independent young women.
The boarders often talk about the joy they experience as members of a warm and welcoming sisterhood.
Three healthy meals and tea-time snacks are served daily, a registered nurse is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and the school psychologists are always available for emotional guidance. Weekly and termly boarding options are available.
Roedean’s boarding facility is truly a ‘home away from home’ in which each pupil is encouraged to bring her own personal touch to her living space.
