Roedean Community Building Programme

Overview

The overarching purpose of this portfolio is to foster a spirit of community amongst the parents, teachers and students of Roedean. The acknowledged interest diversity of the Roedean community necessitates focused activities within social, sport, arts and culture. This approach is taken to improve inclusivity.

Overview

Annual PTA Cocktail Party

One of the PTA’s objectives is to build the community of Roedean by creating opportunities for all the people who form part of the Roedean community to interact and socialise with each other.

Annually, on the first Friday after the school reopens after the Christmas holidays, the PTA hosts a cocktail party in Founders’ Hall, to which all parents and members of staff are invited.

Overview

Moms & Daughters Lunch

The Moms & Daughters annual lunch is held every year on the first Saturday after the Matric Dance. Matric girls get one more chance to show off their matric dance dresses in a fashion show designed to please young and old alike.

The Gymnasium undergoes a transformation ranging over the years from themes such as ‘Out of Africa’, ‘Hot Saffron’ to ‘A Pastel Parade’.

Mothers and daughters in the Junior and Senior Schools are all invited to dress up in theme for the occasion, standing a chance of winning one of the ‘best dressed’ prizes. Gorgeous raffle hampers are up for grabs. The funds generated from the raffles are used to defer costs.

We do not host this event as a fundraiser but rather as an opportunity for mothers and daughters in the Roedean community to connect and create special memories together.

Overview

Annual Matric Dance Red Carpet

On the night of the Matric Dance, students and their partners make their way down the red carpet towards Founders Hall.

Family and friends are invited to witness the procession and take pictures.
