Overview
A vibrant co-curricular programme offers pupils additional opportunities to hone their skills in areas that they enjoy. Sporting, cultural and service activities, alongside the experiences provided by Round Square, camps and outings, all extend and enhance our core offering to give each student a truly holistic experience.Â
Junior School

Art
Visual Art extends the imagination and encourages creative expression in all our pupils within and beyond the classroom.
Chess
Chess Club gives pupils the opportunity to grow their strategic and critical thinking skills while developing their sportsmanship.
Literature
Our Literature Group draws lovers of reading together, giving them the opportunity to compete in an international quiz.
Mini Council
Two Upper IV (Grade 7) pupils are elected each year to represent Roedean on the Johannesburg Mini Council.
Music
Music is highly valued at Roedean, with many opportunities for pupils to learn instruments and perform in groups.
Round Square
Membership of Round Square enhances character education at Roedean through incorporation of the Round Square IDEALS.
Social Responsibility
Our Upper Junior pupils engage in various projects that make a difference to our broader community.
Speech and Drama
Public Speaking and Drama encourage creativity, confidence and critical thinking and improve communication skills.
Sport
Sport exercises each student's physical, cognitive and emotional faculties and provides a foundation for future excellence.
